QUEENS

I am a woman,
human, existing despite climate.
Flesh and bone regardless of men,
dirty hair lined with gray, shadow eyes.
My womb is empty, my body soft.

But you,
your rosy cheeks with pale hair,
eyes drawn black, lips painted red.
You are as woman as I.

And her,
cooking meals, wiping faces,
melted skin from bearing life.
A goddess of fertility.
She is no more woman than you or I,
no more, no less.

We are women, we are human.

“Feminism is the radical notion that women are human beings” - Cheris Kramarae
